
Greek CIOFF® Youth Commission – Action Myths and Legends
An action entitled “Myths and legends of our place over the centuries” was carried out by the Kyparissia General Lyceum in cooperation with the Hellenic Youth Committee of CIOFF® on Monday 21 May 2018 at 10.30 am in the “Alekos Papadopoulos” Hall in Kyparissia. At the beginning of the event, the CIOFF® Hellenic Youth Committee presented the CIOFF® Youth “Myths and Legends” international program as well as the overall action of the Commission in recent years. Students and teachers were then able to attend the presentation of the cultural program, which was prepared by a group of students of the three grades of the Lyceum throughout the year, with the help and guidance of the teachers.
Many myths have been read since antiquity and their course and continuity in Greek folk tradition. The Moires, Water, the Fairies, Persephone’s rape, Oedipus, and local myths and legends, dazzled the students’ interest. The same program will be included in the school at Erasmus KA2 + At the same time, there were presented works and handicrafts made by the students for the program. The event was attended by the Vice Mayor for Education of the Municipality of Trifylia, Mr. Ioannis Mercouri, the Director Mr. Antonopoulos and the teachers of the Kyparissia General Lyceum, the President and members of the Board of Directors, the Parents and Guardians Association of the school as well as students’ parents. Her message was welcomed by the school counselor of the Secondary Education of Messinia, Dr. Vassiliki Sakka.
The total material with myths and legends from the researchers and work of the students was also given to the CIOFF® Greek Youth Committee and we will present it in part, thank you. At the same time, there were presented works and handicrafts made by the students for the program. The event was attended by the Vice-Mayor for Education of the Municipality of Trifilia Mr. Ioannis Merkuris, the Director Mr. Antonopoulos and the teachers of the School, the President and members of the student’s parents association. With a warm message, the school counselor of the Messinia’s Secondary Education Office Dr. Vasiliki Sakka, greet the event. The total material with myths and legends from the research and work of the students was also given to the Greek CIOFF® Youth Commission and we will present it in parts.
